SHARE (Sex Hormones, Alcohol, and Reward in Exposure to trauma)
The purpose of the SHARE (Sex Hormones, Alcohol, and Reward in Exposure to trauma) study is to learn more about the relationship between alcohol use and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms. This project is funded by the National Institute of Health - National Institute for Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse (NIH-NIAAA). We plan to enroll 120 participants in this study over 3 years.

We are looking for participants who...
are between 18 - 65 years old
identify as Hispanic or American Indian
have experienced at least one stressful life event
have consumed alcohol within the last 30 days
(if female) are naturally cycling and are not currently taking hormone contraceptives
Participants will complete a 2-3 hour research interview, answer daily questions through an app on their smartphone for 1 month, and have pictures of their brain taken using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Participants may be compensated up to $300 for their time and effort.
Study visits will take place at The Mind Research Network (MRN) in Domenici Hall, 1101 Yale Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.
